Tip
Cutting calories
is easy when you know how. Simply remove the top bun or piece of bread
from your sandwich and enjoy your meal open-faced. You can save anywhere
from 100 to 300 calories, depending on the type of bread or bun you are
eliminating. Over the course of the year that can add up to 10 pounds
- provided you don't replace the savings!
Fitness
Tip
Basic Interval
Treadmill Workout. This interval program should burn 15% more calories
than if you run or walk at the same pace for 30 minutes. For runners begin
at 5.5 mph, for walkers warm up at 3.5 mph for 5 minutes. For 3 minutes,
runners increase your speed to 7.0 mph and walkers increase your speed
to 4.2 mph. At the 8-9 minute, runners bring it down to 6.0 and walkers
go down to 3.5, for a "recovery period." For minutes 9-12, runners
go back to 7.0 and walkers to 4.2. Then again, bring yourself back down
to the recovery period for another minute. Continue with this until you
have completed 25 minutes and then cool down for 5 minutes at the pace
you warmed up. As necessary, adjust the speed and length of your interval
program but keep the same pattern throughout your workout. Overtime, increase
the number of intervals working up to 45 minutes or an hour.
